A multitude of Beech tree trunks casting shadows across their accumulated leaf litter.

This abandoned trailer – its bed boards stacked loosely upon the metal frame, next to the looming black shadow of a church – has stayed still just long enough to invite Mother Nature to reclaim her used space once again…
*Shot on a Canon 600d 18mp dSLR using a Canon EF 70-210mm f/3.5-4.5 USM lens with settings at ISO-200, aperture at f/3.5, spot metering mode and an exposure time of 1/2000 seconds*
And all that can be seen through the window is a Ford Transit parked on a road, a line of wooden pilings running next to a pavement and some bushes surrounding a fence up above it all…

Bright Sunshine + camera set to ‘spot’ meter + an industrial setting = a silhouetted skyline with cotton wool clouds.

We’re now into March’s double-figure days and yet the whole of the UK is being assaulted by swirling snowfall and freezing temperatures yet again (this ‘bite of Winter’ is even more annoying considering the Spring-like weather we all got to enjoy just last week)!
*Shot on a Canon 350d 8.2mp dSLR using a Sigma 75-300mm f/4-5.6 DG macro lens set at ISO-400, aperture at f/14, pattern metering mode and an exposure time of 1/1000 seconds*
Too slow an exposure speed and a stopped-down aperture has resulted in this Blackbird’s rapidly-moving head being rendered twice in one shot, much like getting a double exposure back in the good old days of film photography. Either that or we’ve got mutant birds living amongst us…
*Shot on a Canon 600d 18mp dSLR using a Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS mkll lens with settings at ISO-400, aperture at f/7.1, centre-weighted metering mode and an exposure time of 1/4 seconds*
A photo of dewdrop-dappled red Rose, highlighted against a bokeh background of green swirled grass and shot in the old Lancashire borough of Royton (hence the title for this entry whilst trying to be all patriotic to my roots and incorporating an historically-correct title)!
*Shot on a Canon 600d 18mp dSLR using a Canon EF 70-210mm f/3.5-4.5 USM lens with settings at ISO-200, aperture at f/5.6, spot metering mode and an exposure time of 1/1000 seconds*
Inside the stairwell of a block of Council flats – namely my very own block – rendered in black and white to achieve a stark, monochrome appearance; a particular look which is not really exaggerated considering the UK’s current Social Housing situation, especially with this April’s new ‘bedroom Tax’ implementation to look forward to!
*Shot on a Panasonic Lumix FX9 6mp compact camera with lens at 35mm and settings at ISO-80, aperture at f/2.8, pattern metering mode and an exposure time of 1/8 seconds*
A close-up shot of the reverse side of a multi-coloured windmill fan, showing off some of the colours of the spectrum used in its vivid circular blades.

A Painted Lady Butterfly lands for a few seconds, its vibrant wing colours gloriously emphasised against the drab grey of the pebble-strewn background the flying insect has chosen as a resting place.
*Shot on a Canon 350d 8.2mp dSLR using a Sigma 75-300mm f/4-5.6 DG macro lens set at ISO-100, aperture at f/9, pattern metering mode and an exposure time of 1/640 seconds*
