Just the weather…

Just the weather...

… for an ice cream, isn’t it?!

FIr cone alone

Fir cone alone

A solitary Fir cone sits rooted on a needle-festooned branch, its gnarled scales in mid-gape and awaiting a brisk wind to disperse any trapped seeds which may be left within the browned husk.

Ramshackled

Ramshackled

Once more to Hollingworth Lake in Littleborough to find this palatial but ramshackled house, which has sat abandoned with faded newspapers covering its windows and its timber frame rotting away for as long as I can remember (I won’t say how long that is as it’ll give away my age)!

Feel the burn!

A couple of early-morning rowers – a shot once again taken on Hollingworth Lake in Littleborough – fight against the freezing temps as their oars slice through the surface water as they ‘feel the burn’.

Cold feet

Cold feet

A Black-head Gull stands upon the ice of Hollingworth Lake in Littleborough as its feathers are buffeted by a gust of wind, almost making the sea bird appear to be shivering from the cold (their webbed feet do not sweat and the blood vessels restrict as the temperature drops, so they don’t feel the cold like us)!

Radial span

Radial span

The wired symmetry of amalgamated telephone lines radiate outwards in a listening span of communications…

Folded

Folded

A metal ‘(no stopping) at any time’ sign creased and folded double; by whom, nobody knows…

*Shot on a Canon 600d 18mp dSLR using a Sigma 18-125mm DC lens with settings at ISO-200, aperture at f/5, spot metering mode and an exposure time of 1/15 seconds*

Flakes falling (yet again)

Flakes falling (yet again)

A lad wearing over-sized blue earphones sits on the back of a Bus, oblivious to the bite-size flakes of snow tumbling from the sky outside on the other side of the glass.

Fabric petals

Fabric petals

With plastic stems and fake grasses thrusting skyward around them, the fabric petals of these false flowers could almost pass as the real thing with their delicate, cross-hatched designs…

Mallard Drake close-up

Mallard Drake close-up

A water-splashed Mallard Drake glides gently across the Rochdale canal’s surface, seemingly oblivious to the moron with a camera just feet away!
