The old Oak tree(s)

From this angle, the Oak tree appears to have been struck by lightning sometime long ago in its life, which has resulted in a ‘cleft’ between its Winter-barren branches. However this is a trick of the eye: there are actually two Oak trees very close together – indeed they seem to have sprouted from Acorns mere inches apart – and as they have grown, their trunks have merged and intertwined as one.
