This hump-backed bridge straddles the Lancaster Canal at Cabus in Preston and has the looming mounds of the Forest of Bowland in the background: the lighter hill which slopes from the centre to the right of the picture is the friendly hillock Nicky Nook (215 metres/ 705 feet); the much larger, darker behemoth enveloping the horizon at the rear is Harrisend Fell (283 metres/ 928 feet).
